In just a few minutes, you can have a pair of glasses that are as clean as new.

A clean pair of eyeglasses helps us to see clearly, while improving our comfort and preventing them from harbouring bacteria that can cause eye infections. If you spend just a few minutes each day cleaning your glasses properly, you’ll be able to wear them for longer. Here are the full cleaning instructions:

 

  1. Clean hands. It's important to make sure our hands are clean before cleaning our glasses. Wash your hands with a mild detergent and warm water to make sure they are free of dirt and grease.

  2. Give your glasses a rinse with warm water. Warm water helps to loosen the grease on the glasses. This step gets rid of dirt on the surface, so it won't scratch the lenses when we do the next step. Don't use hot water, as it might damage the special coating on the lenses.

  3. Apply a mild detergent with your fingertips and rub gently in a circular motion to work up a lather. Just remember to use a detergent that's lotion-free and non-corrosive to your lenses. Strong cleaning products like household glass cleaners can cause irreparable damage to lenses, so be careful!

  4. Rinse the detergent thoroughly. Residual detergent will leave marks on the lens.

  5. Drying. After gently shaking your glasses, dry them with a clean lens cloth. Do not use paper towels or clothing as they may scratch the lenses.

  1. You can use a soft bristle brush to clean the frame, but be careful not to touch the lenses as even a soft bristle brush can scratch them. The hinges are easy to hide dirt. The legs of the glasses are in contact with our skin for a long time and can easily absorb the oil produced by our skin. Do not forget to clean these parts.

  2. You can use a special eyeglasses lens cleaner. Again, you must remove surface dust before use. You can blow gently into the lenses. Make sure there is enough cleaner on both sides of the lenses, then gently wipe them with a lens cloth. You can also buy lens cleaning wipes. Remember to read the instructions before use to make sure the cleaner does not damage the lens coating.
